Cycle Fitting

Cycle Fitting has been an integral part of WyndyMilla’s philosophy since the very start.

As a service included at the beginning of your custom bike journey, or provided standalone on current non-WyndyMilla bikes, we approach each cycle fit with open arms. The physiological elements of you, the cyclist, are as important as the mechanics of the bike. We focus on you, ensuring you are able to perform to your very best and enjoy cycling to the fullest extent. That’s what it’s all about, after all.

Every cyclist is unique; so is our approach.
Each fit starts with an online questionnaire to gather important information about you before you arrive at our bike fit studio in Surrey. This ensures your fit session runs dynamically, based on your unique requirements.

“Bike fitting is a human, subjective process, and should have the sound judgement of a well trained individual at its core. I’m a firm believer in the art of organic bike fitting, so each session is uniquely tailored to our customers. This is more than a simplified packaged system, this is an integrated, dynamic, holistic approach. We want to make sure it’s right; that’s why our follow up sessions are free.”

Our bike fitter and bike designer, David Barnes Page, has seven years industry experience, and redefines the recipe of cycle fitting. Building on his knowledge from Specialized Body Geometry Fit programme; mixing it with an academic background from Loughborough University’s Sports Technology Institute; combined with education from the Wolfson School of Engineering; and a lifelong passion of bicycles and bike mechanics since his teens – you’re in the safest hands.
David ensures your cycling position is optimised to provide the most efficient, comfortable, confidence inspiring and advantageously performing rides possible.

David studied Biomechanics of Sport, Analysis in Sports Biomechanics, Structural Kinesiology and Applied Sports Science at Loughborough University’s Sports Technology Institute, and Manufacturing Design, Materials and Manufacturing Processes and Computer Aided Design at Wolfson School of Engineering.

Bike Fit Services

Standard Fit: 2 to 3 hours £150

The process of adjustment typically begins with shoe and pedal selection and then cleat set up, including alignment, positioning, Q Factor, wedging and adjustment for any leg length discrepancy. The saddle position is dynamically set in accordance with your posture, range of movement and flexibility and we have a range of saddle options available to demo or buy if your current equipment doesn’t suit.

The handlebar position, shape and width are adjusted to give the balance of comfort, control and aerodynamics that best suits your body and riding style. Specific ergonomic issues are addressed through handlebar and brake lever set up and handlebar padding and tape.

NB: Extra bikes can be adjusted to match (e.g. training bike matched to race bike) or unalike bikes can be fitted at a supplementary hourly rate of £60.

What to bring:

Please bring your bike(s) shoes and cycling kit suitable for pedalling indoors, changing facilities will be provided. Time trial riders and triathletes may benefit from bringing their aero helmets to ensure that the position is optimised around the helmet profile.

Advanced Fit: 3 to 4hrs. £220.

Our advanced fitting follows on from our standard service but includes the added customisation of a full Sidas Orthotic footbed to optimise the interface between shoe and foot, one of the most critical areas of the bike in terms of comfort and performance.

Shoe Customisation and Footbeds: 1hr30. £100

The foot/shoe interface is a vital part of the fitting process. Our feet provide the platform from which our bodies work and without a stable and secure base the rest of the body will struggle to perform comfortably and efficiently.

Cycling shoes are incredibly stiff and hold the feet tightly giving little room for self-correction so support and stability are essential. Sidas are a French company with a dedicated medical research arm and are renowned for their work in foot posture and support. The Sidas Conform’able footbed is a cycling specific orthotic footbed which is fully custom molded to the foot before being shaped to fit securely in the shoe, they are compatible with any brand of cycling shoe to improve its comfort and support. Once the footbed has been made and fitted to your shoes the pedals and cleats are set up and where required bio-mechanical adjustments are made with wedges and shims to optimise the pedalling support.

Cleat Fitting / Wedging, Saddle Fitting £60/hr

Some small jobs such as a change of saddle or pedals don’t always require a full fitting; if you are happy with the bike and set up as a whole and can be charged on an hourly rate of £60 to ensure that your new components are installed correctly or to deal with specific issues.
